It’s the start of the fashion calendar on Saturday and I will be covering the autumn 2010 mens shows in Milan and Paris with my good friend and colleague Celia. In menswear, Milan and Paris still reign supreme. Don’t get me wrong, I’m the biggest supporter of London Fashion Week that you could find, but for financial scale and influence, nobody cuts it like the continentals. Of course, I’m telling you all this because over the next week I will be drinking a lot of Prosecco and a heap-load of canapes. It is of course a lovely bonus that the two main fashion capitals are also foodie heavens. In Milan, it’s all about the aperitivo – the pre-dinner snacks you get with a cocktail for…the price of a cocktail! In Paris, it’s, well, it’s Paris isn’t it? Last time I visited the superb Mama Shelter in the 20th. I’m still making my mind up about this trip’s gastro destinations so any suggestions gladly appreciated!

I invite a group of friends, friends-of-friends, and some random So-and-So’s round my place on Tuesday and cook them a three course dinner. And I’ll take pictures. And then share them with you! I’m hoping it will be fun. You see, I cook a lot. And I really enjoy experimenting [...]]]> Well, that’s the idea anyway. I invite a group of friends, friends-of-friends, and some random So-and-So’s round my place on Tuesday and cook them a three course dinner. And I’ll take pictures. And then share them with you! I’m hoping it will be fun. You see, I cook a lot. And I really enjoy experimenting with food and display. So, it make sense to take some pictures and put it out there into the internet ether. You’ll see recipes on this site, but they will all have a Doyle twist, and I’ll explain my reasoning behind changes to any classics. I think cooking can be easy and fun but also entertaining, so why not treat it as any other art? Each week’s party will  have a theme and I’ll show you what inspired me for that theme. For example, I’m big into Russian folk design at the moment, so, it’s likely there will be a party coming-up where borsch meets Potemkin meets…Natalia Vodianova!

You’ll also notice that my regular job is in fashion. When I’m not writing on here, I edit an online men’s fashion journal called Buckstyle, and I’m a freelance fashion film-maker. From my experience, fashionistas love to eat – especially models! So, from time to time, I’ll be getting some views and tips on food from the people I work with in my day-to-day life.
